Below are answers to common questions about booking and preparing for an appointment. If you need help with something else, call or email us.
California law requires a notary to verify your identity through what's called “satisfactory evidence”—either an acceptable ID document or a credible witness. Acceptable ID includes a current (or issued within the last 5 years) California driver's license or ID card, a U.S. passport, or another government-issued ID that includes your photo, physical description, signature, and an ID number. If you don't have acceptable ID on hand, we can also verify your identity through one or two credible witnesses—ask us about this option when you book.
Some documents require witnesses in addition to notarization. Please arrange any required witnesses unless Operandi confirms availability in advance. Witness availability is not guaranteed, and any applicable fee will be disclosed before service.
Yes. We're comfortable working with Spanish-speaking signers and Spanish-language documents.
For direct-client services, we accept cash, Zelle, and major credit cards. General Notary online bookings require a $25 deposit that is credited toward the final charges. Loan Signing fees and payment terms are confirmed after review; mortgage, title, escrow, legal, and signing-service assignments follow the agreed assignment terms.
We recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance when possible. The online schedulers show current availability. For same-day or urgent requests, call us because additional times may be available by request.
Operandi provides mobile loan-document signing and escrow-closing appointments for refinances, HELOCs, and buyer or seller packages. Service is subject to availability and applicable travel fees.
No. California currently requires the signer to physically appear before the notary. Operandi offers in-person electronic notarization (I-PEN) for eligible electronic documents during an in-person appointment using an IdenTrust digital certificate, electronic notary seal, and secure Adobe-based workflow. Availability depends on the document, technology platform, and receiving party.
Have the complete document package supplied by your lender, title company, or escrow contact, plus acceptable identification for each signer. Confirm any document or funding questions with the party that prepared the package before the appointment.
No. The signing agent presents the provided package, guides signers through the required signatures and notarizations, and returns the completed documents as instructed. Operandi does not give legal, lending, title, escrow, or document-selection advice.
For General Notary bookings, the $25 deposit is credited toward the final charges. Cancelling or rescheduling at least 24 hours ahead qualifies for a refund or transfer to a new date; cancellations inside 24 hours and no-shows forfeit the deposit. Loan Signing appointments do not require an upfront online deposit. Their cancellation, rescheduling, fee, and payment terms are confirmed after assignment review.
